Now, day two started very early, having not gotten much sleep (thanks to the hotel room being 30 degrees all night, and not having aircon) it was time to drive the 25 miles or so to Slagharen.
This is a total gem of a park – 2 coasters, several rare spin rides, including one of only 2 Schwarzkopf “Apollo” chairoplane rides (see Schwarzkopf Coaster Net for more details on the history of this, and it’s twin “Heatwave”) and a Schwarzkopf Enterprise (again, see another excellent article from Schwarzkopf Coaster Net) and the Looping Star #6 – which is as far as I know, the only one which has never been moved.

Following an excellent lunch at a restaurant within the park, we decamped for Hellendoorn – another gem of a park, with a very welcome Rapids ride on this very hot day!
Their new coaster had only been open a couple of days, and was still very much in the middle of a construction site – however the highlight of this park was the excellent indoor (i.e. shade!) Vekoma Rollerskater “RiolRat” – which briefly emerges into the daylight from it’s underground lair!

Lastly we headed to our next hotel. the Hampshire in Apeldoorn – where another nice meal was head in the hotel restaurant, and as the room was a lot cooler than the outside air, I managed to sleep… which was good, as night 3 will show…

Indeed – I’m very pleased with how some of the photos came out – however the story of night three… well that should be posted tonight (after the write-ups of the parks we did on Sunday, including Toverland)
As for Sunday night’s “entertainment” – well, you’ll have to wait – but I didn’t get a lot of sleep…

Sorry to hear you couldn’t ride Goliath. If it’s any consolation, I didn’t think it was anywhere near as good as it’s reputed to be. No “soul” is how I’d describe it, I suppose.
I did pick up a brouchure… and as for “rare” stuff, as well as the aformentioned Schwarzkopf Apollo, others included a Scwarzkopf Enterprise, a Weber “Traum Boot”, a Weber “1001 Nights”. In the realms of less rare stuff, a Fabbri Megadrop, Huss Condor, and Huss Pirate Ship were all there too.
Other parks had some rare stuff, including Walibi World’s TriStar – the first time I’ve ever actually seen one (and I thought it was pretty good too…)
Thanks Tom – I remember when I was little, Pat Collins hired the Kaiser family’s Weber Traum Boot for the Goose Fair one year. I must have cost my parents a fortune, as I just couldn’t keep away from it. I love the 1001 nights. Weber is/was a very underated company.
Flamingo Land has a Tri-Star, except that on 2 of my 3 visits, they’ve had a sign up saying “This ride will be running in Carousel mode today”, which means they run the ride, but don’t lift the arm!
